| Unmen!!! |

The unmen were Frankenstein style henchmen of The Swmpthing main bad guy, Anton Arcane. Arcane was a scientist/Wizard who was obsessed wit immortality, so he spent his time trying to create the perfect immortal body to house his brilliant mind. The Unmen were his early experiments along these lines, but when he discovered the Swampthing, he decided that swampy's body was perfect for his plans. Things didn't go his way though and his own body was destroyed in a fall. Arcane's mind was then transfered into an Unman.

The Crypt Keeper is the original horror host. Almost every horror host to come later copied his basic formula. He taught us that no amount of gratuitous violence couldn't be laughed at.

| Horror Movie Night 2!!! |
[Oct. 20th, 2007|10:46 pm] |
This Monday (the 22nd) I'm inviting people over to my house once again to watch some scary movies. We'll be watching a Misfits double feature.
Also known as fanatic, this is a Hammer production. All Movie Guide says: "This Hammer film production is a surprisingly frightening horror thriller and a hoot-fest for lovers of over-the-top acting. Young Pat Carroll (Stefanie Powers) goes to the home of her dead fiancé to meet his beloved mother, Mrs. Trefoile (Tallulah Bankhead). There, she discovers that Mrs. Trefoile is not the loving mother she had anticipated, but rather a grieving psychopath who blames Pat for the death of her son. Tallulah Bankhead, in her last film, has never been know for her subtle acting, but in this she lets go of all restraint and gives a performance equal to that of Bette Davis in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? Her maniacal intensity is comic, camp, and surprisingly effective. Stefanie Powers, who underplays her role, is a great contrast as the puzzled and then terrified Pat. This movie is a must-see for all lovers of camp horror movies or fans of the memorable Tallulah Bankhead. Die! Die! My Darling! was also released as Fanatic."
Here we have the scientifically re-animated dead doing battle with each other, the CIA, Communist spies, and of course the general public. Here's what the All Movie Guide has to say: "This laughably-bad mess stars ubiquitous "Z"-movie journeyman John Carradine as Dr. DeMarco, a loony scientist whose original concept to build a humanoid robot for space missions is fouled somewhat by his choice of a psycho-killer's brain for his first subject. Instead of doing the sensible thing and retiring from the mad-doc profession, DeMarco chooses instead to build another robot to hunt down the last one. His efforts are only slightly hindered by a moronic CIA investigation (led by a hung-over Wendell Corey, in his final screen role) and the meddling of a cabal of communist spies under the direction of slinky dragon-lady Tura Satana (of Russ Meyer's Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!), apparently for the purpose of exploiting the solar-powered astro-man for military reasons. When the doc's lovely former lab assistant (she's since been replaced by a leering hunchback) is attacked by the first robot, he loses his solar cell and narrowly escapes destruction (by holding a flashlight to his head!), but in his hurried exit he leads the CIA right back to DeMarco's lab, where most of the surviving cast members bump each other off. Taking into account the obvious goofy editing (characters are seen standing around waiting for the shot to end) and abominable performances all around, director Ted V. Mikels (of the "Point-N-Shoot" school of filmmaking) would later achieve such cinematic heights as The Corpse Grinders and Blood Orgy of the She-Devils."
I'm sure we'll watch something else too, but we'll decide that night. I've got tons of horror movies ready to go. Bring your own beer. It should be fun.
